Construction of the First Federal Plaza began in April 1974 and was completed in Spring of 1976. The 309-foot, 21-story building was opened to its first tenants shortly thereafter, in June 1976. The First Federal Plaza and its architectural team of Corgan, Balestiere and Leaper went on to win the People's Choice Award sponsored by the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1977.
